Myth Orphans of Ovenstein – News Update November 2024
We are continuously working on the upcoming Orphans of Ovenstein box. One of the latest changes is the reduction of the Skill Cards and Fate Cards to their original small size for better handleability at the game table. Another playtest result was that the double usage of the Fate Dice for Fate Abilities and Skill Tests, despite the fact that they work in very different ways, was very confusing to the players, especially when it came to applying bonus dice from cards, stances, and items. To resolve that issue, we introduce a new special die—the 8sided Skill Die. It comes with each of the 6 Fate Symbols, plus one empty side, plus one new Joker side that counts as any Fate Symbol of your choice. As for the Action Cards and their Stance Bonuses, those that come with attacks often provide bonus Fate Dice (because Fate Abilities are only used during attacks), whereas cards without attacks (lets call them “Utility Cards,” although they don’t need a special game term and thus don’t have one) often provide bonus Skill Dice. The same is true for items. Weapons and such usually provide bonus Fate Dice (along with bonus Hit Dice), while the various general-purpose equipment provide bonus Skill Dice (and/or special game effects that affect Skill Die rolls).
But my worthy friend, gray are all theories, and green alone life’s golden tree. So, for your viewing pleasure, here are some of the awesome new Item Cards in the Orphans of Ovenstein set. The current total number stands at over 120 Item Cards, and we picked cards that are not story items (i.e. directly linked to the story of the campaign), so there is no Spoiler Warning required. Please enjoy, and talk to you again real soon.
